Our story began during the mid 90’s in Southern California. Traveling to Mexico with small mission teams made us aware of the repercussions of poverty and the lack of education to even those just on the other side of the San Ysidro border. With a desire to take responsibility for the burden of the poor routine expeditions were taken into various parts of Mexico.
Gregg Garner organized our first groups into Ensenada, Mexicali and Mezquital, Mexico. Tara Garner, Robert Munoz and Jason Roufs soon joined the efforts. Our first seven years we facilitated several 7-day expeditions ranging from 8 to 150 participants. The purpose of these early trips was to draw others into our efforts to help the people of Mexico and Latin America. Through 14 years of continuing expeditions, even drawing experience from other countries in Latin America (including Michael Johnson who spent 2 years in Juarez, Mexico in 2005 & 2006) we have solidified our research and developed focused goals.
Today from our headquarters in Antioch, TN two-dozen of us are preparing for a life of service in El Salvador from where we will ‘hub’ and reach out to other nations of Latin America. As we continue our training expeditions for our students, we are preparing to establish permanent presence by sending three families to live in El Salvador.
